What inputs/responsibilities do you expect from us OR How should I supply you the raw content?

We are essentially a design team and content writing is not our forte. We expect slide-wise content in raw format from our clients. In most cases, our clients have the existing raw version of the PPT that they share with us. Our team takes this as a base material and applies the design transformation to it.

Although, content writing is not our core-competency, decades of presentation design experience does help us in UNDERSTANDING & INTERPRETING the raw content and transforming it into creative designs. So, an existing PPT/DOC file which already has the slide-wise raw content marked properly works as a best input for us and saves lot of pre-project time. This raw deck also gives you a good opportunity to consider the best content approach.

Following are some of the best practices to be considered while preparing the content for your presentation.

  • First work on the broad presentation outline : Before you start slide-wise content, prepare a broad outline of topics you want to cover. This can be a simple bullet list and can be used as an index of your presentation. Ensure this list encompasses all the key aspects of your messaging.
  • Overview: Don't forget to give this overview/outline to your audience as one of the opening slide. This helps them know what lies ahead.
  • Focus on Messaging: While drafting the content - have a sharp focus on key messaging and ensure your points are delivered in most clear way without any ambiguity.
  • Keep it simple: Complexity and sophisticated messaging can turn-off or confuse the audience. People love simplicity. If your ideas can be broken into simple points - not only it has chances of better acceptance but gives our design team wider scope for graphical transformations.
  • Keep it short: It's tempting to stuff the presentation with slides. Rule of thumb: One slide for every two minutes of presentation. However, the number of slides your presentation must have depends on context and time duration. If you have less than an hour to present - don't have more than 20 slides. If you fly through slides, you’ll seem rushed. If you stay on one slide for too long, it will affect the attention span of audience.
  • Separator / Subsection slides: Help your audience identify the flow and know where they have arrived in the presentation.
